The CCLM1a Casing Collar Locator (CCL) Meter Surface Amplifier printed circuit board (PCB) is an improved SIE style CCL surface amplifier for use with non-amplified "shooting" CCLs. (See our Casing Collar Locator (CCL) pages for more general information.) This improved design incorporates a better current limiting scheme for maximum safety. It also incorporates Paul Knight's meter protection circuit to prolong the life of the meter movement; said feature can be ignored, set to full time operation, or can be switch selectable. There is a provision for an LED indicator light to verify amplification mode if said feature is desired. Selectable components are turret terminal mounted to ease selection or change once the board is installed.
The CCLM1a CCL Meter Surface Amplifier PCB can be used for new installations or to repair and improve existing equipment. We have installed many of these units in GO/GOI/MLS CDM 401 Collar Depth Modules where the improvement is dramatic. The board can be installed directly on the back of standard meters, or it can be chassis mounted. It uses readily obtainable components, which parts will continue to be available for many years to come, and it uses convenient turret terminals for wiring connections.
