Fred McManus Underground Injection Control Section Ground-Water Protection Branch U.S. EPA - Region IV 345 Courtland Street, NE Atlanta, Georgia 30365
Dear Mr. McManus:
I have been thinking about our conversation here in my office yesterday about the use of bentonite gel as an annular fluid.
I remain amazed at EPA's generosity, but in doing some research, said procedure would seem reasonable, at least with respect to plain gel to which no lost circulation material (LCM) has been added. I feel certain that had I suggested the use of bentonite in the annulus, you guys would have rejected the idea without hesitation. Nevertheless, I appreciate you bringing this to my attention, and as always I am most grateful for your kindness.
Sincerely,
Syd H. Levine
