The measuring chamber inlet port should roughly face the upper casing outlet port.
The gears on the open type gear train should face the measuring chamber inlet port.
The enclosed gear train lasts longer than the open type; fill with water resistant grease, not oil.
Neoprene stuffing box packing works best, followed by cork.
Measuring Chamber / Disc Data
1.246 inches is the standard half ball.
Measuring chambers seldom survive a freeze, even when the meter housing bottom does.
Parts Interchangeability (5/8 Inch American)
American meter packing can be used in older Niagara meters (newer models use larger packing).
Chambers and discs from American meters generally work in Niagara meters.
American meter internal gear trains generally work in Niagara meters.
American registers work on Niagara meters using the smaller size register (will not say barrels).
Change Gear Distance
The Number 5 register is .627 inch between shaft centerlines.
The Number 6 register is .720 inch between shaft centerlines.
42 Gallon Barrel Registration
The theoretical ratio for 42 gallon barrel registration is about .67 or .68
